DashReplay privacy policy

Last updated · October 8, 2026

Your recordings stay in the app on your iPhone unless you share them or turn on iCloud Drive backup. For beta testers, Apple’s TestFlight service separately provides diagnostics and feedback.

DashReplay is developed and operated by Oscar Duarte. This policy covers the DashReplay iPhone app and these DashReplay website pages. For privacy questions or requests, email privacy@dashreplay.com.

What stays on your phone

DashReplay processes road video, optional cabin video and audio, recording times, drive details, settings and local diagnostics. With your permissions and settings, it also uses location, routes, destinations, optional saved speed and motion information for possible-incident protection. Recent destinations, favorites and drive labels are stored locally. Versions that offer Terms acknowledgment store the acknowledged edition in local preferences; this acknowledgment is not sent to Oscar.

Recording is foreground-only. Optional cabin audio is off by default. Camera, microphone, location and motion access are controlled through the app and iOS permissions. Possible-incident protection is an optional beta feature, not a crash detector or emergency service.

Ask passengers before recording cabin audio and get any consent required by local law. Microphone permission on your phone does not establish other people’s consent to being recorded. Review video and audio before sharing; visible scenes and voices can reveal private information.

The app has no operator-hosted account, footage-upload service, advertising SDK or third-party analytics SDK. It does not automatically send your recordings or stored route history to Oscar. This does not prevent Apple’s TestFlight diagnostics described below.

Apple, Maps and purchases

Apple processes requests needed for maps, destination searches, place previews and routing. These can include search text, location and destination information. Opening or resolving an Apple Maps or Google Maps link sends the requested information to that provider. Their privacy policies apply to those services.

Apple processes product lookup, purchase and restore activity. The app uses verified purchase status to enable Pro. Oscar does not receive your full payment-card information. TestFlight in-app purchases use Apple’s sandbox.

TestFlight beta information

Apple automatically collects beta crash logs and usage information and shares them with the developer; this collection cannot be opted out of while using TestFlight. It may include your device identifier, device and OS details, installations, sessions and crashes. Email invitations can also expose your tester name and email address. Feedback you submit through TestFlight is shared with Apple and the developer, including screenshots, comments and technical context such as connection type, battery level and available storage. Apple’s linked notice lists the details.

Oscar uses this information only to improve DashReplay and related products and does not share it with third parties. Review screenshots and attachments for private footage, routes and other personal details before sending them. See Apple’s TestFlight privacy information for its collection and retention practices.

Optional iCloud Drive backup

Backup is off by default. Optional setup is available during onboarding or later in Settings. Opening setup leaves backup off until you tap Turn on backup, which creates the DashReplay folder in iCloud Drive. It initially copies only protected recordings started after you enable it. All completed recordings and including existing recordings are separate, explicit choices.

Copies contain video and recorded audio. The app filters embedded sharing metadata and excludes GPS, saved routes, destinations, the Library catalog and diagnostic logs. Visible scenes and voices can still reveal private information. Apple stores the copies in your iCloud Drive; anyone with access to that folder can see them. Oscar does not receive them through this feature. Your iCloud storage, cellular-data settings and Apple’s terms apply.

Keep DashReplay open after a drive. Preparing copies pauses during recording, excessive heat or low storage. Clips over 512 MB require manual sharing. “Copied” confirms a copy in the DashReplay folder; “Uploaded” appears only when iCloud reports completion. Turning backup off stops new app work, but transfers already handed to iCloud may continue. Local cleanup still applies and can remove footage before it is copied. Local deletion and turning backup off do not delete iCloud copies. Open or delete those copies in Files; importing them back into the DashReplay Library is not supported. If your iCloud account or backup folder changes, review the settings and tap Turn on backup again.

Sharing and support

When you use the iOS share sheet, the recipient or service you choose receives the selected recording, map link or diagnostics file. Preparing an export alone does not send it. Copies shared elsewhere are governed by the recipient’s practices.

If you email support or privacy, Oscar receives your email address, message and any attachments through iCloud Mail. They are used to respond, troubleshoot and handle your request. Please avoid sending recordings or precise route details unless needed and you choose to provide them. No information is sold or used for targeted advertising.

Retention and your choices

Recordings and drive data remain locally until you delete them or the app’s configured cleanup rules remove eligible data. Protected recordings are excluded from automatic cleanup but still use storage and can be deleted manually. Export anything important before deleting it or removing the app.

The app marks its recording, session, navigation, diagnostics and private backup-work storage as excluded from device/iCloud backup. Ordinary preferences may still be handled by iOS backup and restore. Optional iCloud Drive copies are separate from device backup. DashReplay provides no Library restore or operator recovery service.

Oscar keeps support correspondence and any separately saved beta diagnostics only while needed to resolve requests, investigate issues, operate the app or meet legal obligations. Request access, correction or deletion of information Oscar holds at the privacy address above. Oscar cannot retrieve or delete recordings held only on your device or copies you shared elsewhere. Apple controls retention within its own services.

These web pages

These pages are hosted using ChatGPT Sites, provided by OpenAI and its infrastructure providers. The pages add no analytics script, advertising, contact form or embedded media. Hosting providers may process ordinary connection and request information, such as IP addresses, browser details and access logs, to serve and secure the site. See OpenAI’s privacy policy. Optional collection in future versions

The current app has no optional developer analytics or footage-upload feature. If a future version adds optional data collection by Oscar or a service acting on his behalf, we will explain the data, purpose, recipients, retention and how to withdraw before asking for a separate opt-in. That optional collection will stay off until you choose to enable it, and you will be able to stop future optional collection. Accepting the Terms or this policy is not consent to future optional collection.

Before those practices change, we will update this policy and the App Store privacy disclosures. Consent does not remove any required disclosure. The Apple services, TestFlight information and support messages you choose to send are described above; this future-choice paragraph does not change those current practices.

Changes

Changes to the app or its data practices will be reflected here with an updated date. We will explain material changes before asking you to enable a new optional collection feature. Contact Oscar at the privacy address above with any questions.
